Writers and editors

Learning Media is proud to have published great writers such as Margaret Mahy, Joy Cowley, and Janet Frame. But every writer needs a starting point, and Learning Media could be yours. This is a space for our community of writers and editors to celebrate and debate the written word.

We’re excited about good writing and how it can make a difference to literacy and learning. We encourage writers of all backgrounds to submit their work to us: we support and nurture our newest voices alongside our best known ones. We also contract experienced editors.

Our contributor profiles are first-hand accounts of how writers came to work for Learning Media. For a writer, there’s no such thing as a typical CV. These profiles capture some of New Zealand’s most esteemed writers, such as Janice Marriott and Gregory O’Brien, as well as promising new voices such as André Ngāpō.

We’ve provided detailed guidelines that are specific to each series we publish. If you're keen to write for us, read about the kinds of work we’re looking for and the best way to submit your manuscript.

This page will soon become a blog for writers and editors. You’re welcome to join our discussions: watch this space!
